Is Croatian Visa needed for Taiwan (Republic of China) passport traveller?

Question by Juana: Is Croatian Visa needed for Taiwan (Republic of China) passport traveller?
I am holding a Taiwan (Republic of China) passport, I will join a Carnival cruise to arrive Dubrovnik 7am and leave 7pm the same day; do I need a visa to enter to Croatia? If yes, since this is only a one-day visit, do you think Carnival can work as a “guarantor ” for me to have a sort of “land permission” temporary visa? Thanks a million for the quick answer.
Tks very much for the prompt answer.I even learned that Permanent Resident like me can apply this visa ON LINE (on the website you provided). But I am a ‘will-to-be’ Carnival Cruise traveler. The ship will arrive Dubrovnik, Croatia 7am and leave at 7pm the same day. For this short visit, do I still need a visa? 0r, cruise line can be a sort of ‘Guarantor’ for me to embark on “land permission” basis (give by Croatia Customs)??
Taiwan doesn’t have diplomatic ties with Croatia and papers have to be sent to Japan for process, this is the study I made so far. Unfortunately my travel agent couldn’t answer me whether the cruise line could work as a ‘guarantor’ for me to obtain a ‘landing permission’; and I haven’t heard from Carnival Cruise either on this issue. I am putting my question on “Cruise Travel” under YAHOO ANSWERS to solicit more answers.

Taiwan is not mentioned on the official site of the Croatian foreign office site where you can check if a Visa is required http://www.mfa.hr/MVP.asp?pcpid=1615

According to a 3rd party site the visa is required http://croatia.visahq.com/requirements/Taiwan/

Therefore it is best if you check at the local embassy for the official confirmation but in my opinion I think you would most certainly need a visa and there would not be an alternative. Documents are carefully checked on the Croatian borders & aiports

There is no Croatian embassy in Taiwan but this means that your area will be under the cover of a embassy in a neighbouring country – here you can see all the possibilities and if you click on the country you can get the address & other contact details http://croatia.visahq.com/embassy/Taiwan/

EDIT – I can’t say for sure so it is best that you check directly either with the embassy or if you have made the booking for the cruise with a travel agents then they should be able to advise as well – this *could* be classed as a transit visa and therefore different requirements apply, but as it is still within Croatian territory again I doubt it. Either way it is best to check officially

Can US win a war against China?

Question by pczhoucotdt: Can US win a war against China?
China has S-300 anti-aircraft missiles and HQ-9 (version of Patriot missile developed from alleged Israeli technology transfers in the 1980s). well, China has been producing J-10 (version of F-16 from Israeli technology) and J-11B (Su-27 equipped with dual chinese made WS-10A engines). Stealth fighters like the F-22 Raptor can still be shot down if you can see it. For instance, I have a shotgun and I see a bird so I can shoot it down. Stealth fighters are only undetectable to radars not cannons and lasers. Recently, China has been purchasing advanced Russian weapons like Kilo submarines (equipped with Klub missiles designed to hit aircraft carriers), Sovremenny destroyers, Vympel missiles, Shkval torpedoes, and Su-30 twin seat fighters. China is going to build a aircraft carrier in 2010 and has be actively producing type 052C (version of Aegis destroyer) and Type 052B destroyer. China has the DH-10 land cruise missile with a accuracy of 10 meters and Pl-12 missiles capable of Mach 4.

How to cross Yangtze river, China near Nantong on a bicycle?

Question by Matt: How to cross Yangtze river, China near Nantong on a bicycle?
I wish to ride the G204 road from Qingdao to Shanghai.

The road/map/route appears easy until I reach Nantong. Many large bridges in China do not allow bicycle/pedestrian traffic. How do I cross the Yangtze in Nantong by biycle? Is there a ferry or bridge for bicycles and pedestrians?

Thanks,

Matt
Craftyla — thank you for that information. At first inspection, my map shows that bridge to be a highway (no bikes allowed). But upon looking closer and viewing the link you posted, I can see that you’re correct. Thanks again. I will weigh-up whether that (or the ferry) is the best option for me as the bridge is a diversion from the road I planned to take.

Egypt – Fending off the local men who want to get with you in order to extort your money off you or get a visa into the UK

China – Hope to hell that meat you are eating isn’t dog

France – Carry about your French dictionary and translate everything into French as the locals will pretend not to speak English even though most of them can.

Q&A: Has China already got more military equipment as it is 20 times cheaper to build a missile in China?

Question by Mr Miyagi wants a kiss: Has China already got more military equipment as it is 20 times cheaper to build a missile in China?
Many people point to China’s military budget when comparing it to other nations but military equipment is made much more cheaper in china. To build a cruise or nuclear missile in the USA they first have to ask the Chinese if they can use their rare earth materials (98% of all rare earth materials come from China). The Chinese can make everything from jet fighters to jeeps for a fraction of the cost of ther nations. If you account for how cheap they can produce military equipment how long before they are the number 1 military power? That is if they are not already.

No. China’s military hardware and logistics is dwarfed compared to the US. The near entirety of the Chinese forces is comprised of unarmoured infantry.

Getting China to attack Iran.?

Question by old_man_blanco: Getting China to attack Iran.?
Instead of the US risking military conflict with Iran, would it not be a good idea to dress up a couple dead Iraqi millitants in Iranian uniforms, place then just over the border with China, lob a few cruise missiles into the territory, and make it look like a failed Iranian attck on China had occured.

With a bit of luck China will retaliate by attacking Iran.

The Germans did a similar exercise during WW2, when the made it look as though Poland had tried to attack Germany, and promptly invaded them.

This is just a slight variation on that theme.

Backpackers tours through China?

Question by Paige R: Backpackers tours through China?
Im going to china for one month, and was looking into travelling with Kumuka, but they dont travel through China in early March ( too cold). Is there another similar company who does China for a younger, more culturally sensitive, more active, less “package tourist” trip? Im also not interested in a booze cruise kind of trip. Young, but not obnoxious.
