You can do the Yangtze cruise in two ways downstream and upstream. For a downstream cruise, your ship may begin from the port of Chongqing. While the usual starting point for a upstream cruise is from Yichang. There are also cruise ships runs from Wuhan or Shanghai upward.

Are the Yangtze River and the Yangzi River the same thing?

Question by scohenscohen: Are the Yangtze River and the Yangzi River the same thing?
Well im studying China and surrounding countries in social studies and I have to locate bodies of water on a map by using another map in my text book. But, I can’t seem to locate it. On the paper it tells me to find “Yangtze River”, but the only thing I see is the Yangtze River, which I was thinking maybe it just has two different spellings. But I’m not sure. Any help would be great!
I meant to put the only thing i can find on the map in the text book is “Yangzi”***

Q&A: Which to skip on china trip cuz of time. Yangtze river cruise(3dys), Hong Kong(out of way) Guilin(Li river) ?

Question by Gavin Smith: Which to skip on china trip cuz of time. Yangtze river cruise(3dys), Hong Kong(out of way) Guilin(Li river) ?
We’re already going to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an. Can only go to 2 of the 3(Guiling/yangshuo, hong kong, yangtze cruise from yaching to chongqing) Guilin seems to be a top tourist attraction with the Li river cruise(4 hours) and Yangshuo not too far away that has many natural attractions(rice paddy fields, mountains), hong kong i left out at first but friends wanna go. Yangtze river cruise seems least exciting but 3rd longest river in the world and 3 gorges dam is one of engineering wonders.

Yangtze river, i would miss out on. The amount of scum & slim that has piled up behind the 3 gorges dam over the years is ridiculous, it’s really affected the nature and beauty. The Guilin is a proper wonder, fabulous.

You can use the website below. Just enter your nationality, then the destination, then click for the info and it will tell you if you need a visa. If you do, you will have to contact that country’s embassy nearest to you to apply for the visa. iam sure China requires everyone to have qa visa. also, check with the cruise company, sometimes they take care of visa requirements ( or at least help you) for their passengers.
