Should I give my baby up for adoption?

Question by maybe: Should I give my baby up for adoption?
I’m 45 years old and I’m having one of those “change of life babies.” This year I was planning to take a cruise, take pottery classes, and visit the Great Wall of China. A baby will make my travel plans difficult. What should I do?
ETA: Indy, do you have a spare bedroom in your double-wide or will I have to sleep on the couch?
Also, I really like Cheetos, so you have to be willing to keep plenty on-hand. They’re better than vitamins and a lot cheaper.
Okay Indy, I think you’re the right AP for the job! I like Cheetos for a middle name too, but would you consider Adolph for a first name? (Wow, this pre-birth matching is awesome!)

Oh, and I require a steady stream of a hearty red, preferably from the burgundy region. I find it pairs well with the Extra Crispy variety of Cheetos and also works wonders for curbing morning sickness.
Uh-oh, the competition is getting fierce! Indy is losing ground.

You’re kidding right? Hmm…a baby or trips…how in the world could someone decide. That is just too tough!!!

Seriously, if that is your thinking on a baby then yes you need to let someone else raise the baby and love it. You obviously don’t know how to.

Will the US launch a premptive strike on North Korea? What do you think about this article I found?

Question by Chris G: Will the US launch a premptive strike on North Korea? What do you think about this article I found?
* With American forces bogged down in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, will Obama move towards a preemptive first strike on North Korea? This could mean the employment of tactical nuclear war heads to destroy military objectives. This piece by Turner Radio Network is probably highly speculative. But who knows?

North Korea yesterday withdrew from the Armistice that halted the Korean War. Today, official Washington is abuzz with not so secret “Top Secret” plans for the United States to make a limited nuclear first strike to wipe out the North Korean threat in one fell swoop.

Russia has been alerted to “make plans” for radiation fallout in its eastern border area. In consultations with China, the U.S. Ambassador to Beijing was said to be stunned when he was told by the Chinese government “Kim Jung Il is out of control and dangerous. He has become a serious liability for China. Do what must be done, but please do it in a manner that minimizes risk to China.”

China was then briefed about US plans and asked to prepare its southern population areas for radiation fallout. It is expected that prevailing weather patterns will disperse fallout over the sea, causing it to thin out dramatically before moving over land.

Worst development since World War 2
Our source in the State Department explained today why this situation got so bad, so fast. “The Korean War legally never ended.” he said. “There is no peace treaty, there is only an Armistice, a formal cease-fire. When North Korea officially withdrew from the Armistice yesterday, it automatically brought us back into a hot war. “he continued.

Speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media, the high ranking state department source told Turner Radio Network (TRN):

“Of all the scenarios involving North Korea, withdrawing from the Armistice was the one thing we thought they never would do. Since the War, everyone has known that withdrawing from the Armistice means the cease-fire is over. Today, that cease fire is over; we are back at war with North Korea and this time, the outcome will not be negotiated. Withdrawing from the Armistice was the last mistake North Korea will ever make. Their leadership must surrender now or they are nothing more than dead men walking. It’s over for them” he finished.

Pentagon: Nuclear first strike “Likely”
Early in the evening on Tuesday, President Barack Obama gave permission for the US Military to airlift “Patriot Missile Air Defense” systems to South Korea and additional units to bolster 16 systems already in Japan. Those systems were airborne hours later and arrived in South Korea and Japan today.

The model of Patriot Missile systems sent is “PAC-3″ and they were accompanied by M-901 control stations and AN/MPQ-53 phased array radar. Sources with acute knowledge of the plans for North Korea have confirmed to TRN that a US nuclear first strike is going to be launched.

The first strike will be carried out through submarine-launched, BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles, model TLAM/A whose explosive payload can be “dialed” to be anywhere from 100 kilotons to one point five megatons nuclear yield per missile.

There will be no warning. North Korea will not be able to track the incoming cruise missiles via radar. The only way they will know the attack is taking place is when they see a blinding white flash as the temperature rises to ten thousand degrees and the wind gusts to 650 miles per hour.

North Korean troops along the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) will be hit first to prevent them from invading south Korea. Multiple cruise missiles using Time of Arrival (TOA) control will detonate simultaneously along the DMZ, wiping out over one million North Korean troops in seconds.

Minutes later, after the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) confirms that the North Korean leadership has been told by their own command structure that their troops at the DMZ have all been killed, Kim Jung Il will be contacted and asked if he is willing to surrender. It is expected he will not.

At that point, a B-2 Stealth Bomber will be sent in to deliver the final blow. Pyongyang will be hit with a surface detonation of a massive nuclear bomb, wiping out the entire city and the entire government of North Korea.

As soon as that surface detonation takes place, several hundred additional cruise missiles carrying conventional payloads and launched from land, air and sea sites, will hit every North Korean military facility in the entire country, instantly crippling their entire command and control system. Carrier based Aircraft will then fly in to clean up whatever resistance remains.

It is expected the war will be over within one or two days. Korea will be reunited. It’s Capitol will be Seou

Hi there!

i answered a similar question a few days back, when someone wanted to know what to do in a day in seattle… one day can be spent seeing the whole of downtown, taking in a show or a movie to top the night off! here’s a breif synopsis of what I would do on day one, which knocks off a bunch of stuff on your list: (pike place, aquarium, space needle, monorail, children’s museum)

I would start at the Seattle Center, which is where the Space Needle is located. Park/cab there, you won’t need your car until way later. If it’s a clear day, go up the needle. if not, don’t bother, it’s not worth it. 🙂 just being honest.

While at the Seattle Center, you can visit the Children’s Museum, but there’s also the EMP (Experience Music Project) which is a music museum filled with a bunch of cool popular culture artifacts. If you’re more of a science buff, may i suggest hitting up the Pacific Science Center, also located at the Seattle Center. Great for kids, great for learning. This will take up a big chunk of your day, too, as there is so much to see.

Once you’ve exhausted your time at the Seattle Center, hop on the Monorail. For only $ 4 per person round trip, this mile-long monorail takes you right to the center of the business district. It drops you at Westlake Center (don’t waste any time in that mall, it’s crap).

Head outside, where you’ll find a couple of blocks of fun shopping — everything from Banana Republic, American Apparel, Deisel, Gap, and you’ll also be able to hit up Pacific Place shopping center (across from Nordstrom one block East of the monorail drop off) that has the higher end stores like Tiffany’s, Barney’s, Coach, Bebe, etc. Lots of fun there.

You can walk a bit south (6 blocks or so, but i’d hop on the bus to get there if i were you) to Chinatown and spend a good hour there, if you’d prefer that to the shopping.

After a couple hours shopping or Chinatown, head West down to Pike Place Market (this is a MUST!) where you can walk the market and grab fresh produce from local farmers, or stop in at one of the many cute hidden restaurants located on the block (let me know if you would like any specific suggestions — mandyhoov@hotmail.com). Spend a good deal of time exploring this area. It’s got so much history.

Once you are done with the market, head two blocks west (take the stairs down from the market) to the waterfront, where you will find the Seattle Aquarium, and some other fun shops along there (Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe) along with an indoor amusement park with a carousel and arcade. Head north along the piers where you’ll find some breathtaking views of the Puget Sound. If you’re feeling energized, you can take a water taxi along to Alki Beach, but really, it’s not necessary (and you won’t have time). At the end of the waterfront, there are a bunch of restaurants where you could grab a bite to eat — Anthony’s or Waterfront Grille (a bit pricey)… Check out the Sculpture Park (it’s a weird funky park with outdoor sculptures) as you finish your walk.

Head back up to Westlake Center — you can either catch a play at the Paramount Theater, or a concert at the Moore or Showbox, or a movie at the Cinerama, or, if you are tired and want to call it a night, catch the monorail back to your car and head off into the sunset…

so, to sum up:

park at seattle center
space needle
Children’s Museum/EMP/ or Science Center
Monorail to Westlake Center
A bit of shopping at Pacific Place and surrounding Areas
or Chinatown
Walk down to Pike Place Market for lunch
Walk down to the Waterfront
Aquarium
Walk along the pier to Anthony’s for dinner
Back to Westlake for either
Concert
Play
Movie
Back to the Monorail that takes you back to the Seattle Center.
Back to your car.

As for the other things on your list, they are a bit more spread out… the Zoo could be an entire morning — it’s about 5 miles north of the city center… you could do that the same day as the Lake Cruise — i would recommend Ride the Ducks — it’s a great tour of Seattle on a bus that turns into a boat!! so it takes you by land and by sea! the kids will love it!

Deception Pass is another all-day trip, as it’s pretty far north. you will want to rent a car to do this, though, because a cab ride would be really expensive! it’s beautiful in the spring time, and you’ll see so many bald eagles! i used to go up there with my folks when i was a little girl and we’d count over 30 some times!

bring rain gear just in case, as you will be here during the ‘rainy season’ (hahaha, it’s seattle, so isn’t all year the rainy season?)

if you need suggestions for places to eat, i would say definitely check out Yelp.com … but here are some that i recommend downtown for families with children:

Cheesecake Factory
Fox Sports Grill
Palomino
Icon Grill (so good! and has genuine Chihuley art throughout — VERY seattle!)
Anthony’s on the waterfront

Some of my top favorites (although i’m an urba

There was barely enough room to tread water as thousands of swimmers crowded into a pool in an attempt to escape China’s scorching heatwave.

But the fact there was no elbow room was not going to stop the fun in the world’s most populous nation.

Families desperate to escape the heat grabbed their rubber rings to jostle for space at a local pool in Nanjing, the capital of the Jiangsu Province.

Does the US think civilians from “3rd World” countries are just dirty animals and so have no rights???

Question by f_vidigal: Does the US think civilians from “3rd World” countries are just dirty animals and so have no rights???
It is very common practice of the US to launch missile air strikes against populated areas if they think someone wanted is hiding there somewhere, and usually they kill the guy but they also kill many innocent civilians. After that, the US officials say they are sorry(not), and case closed. And they don’t care because it was “3rd World” Nation civilians.
How about if a “3rd World” Nation wanted someone and thought the guy was hiding in a US town, then send a “3rd World” cruise missile to blow up that US town, and then just say sorry, and case closed?
Would the US send a cruise missile too if that wanted guy was hiding in Paris, or somewhere in China?
How about if the US suspected a wanted guy was hiding in a US town would they send a missile to blow the town up, then no criminal repercussions, no monetary indemnifications, and just say sorry, and case closed?
What is the difference between innocent US civilians, innocent “3rd World” Nation civilians, and innocent Chinese civilians?
Are the innocent US civilians prettier? US civilians can suffer pain and the others don’t? US civilians have hopes, dreams and families; and the others don’t? Does US civilians are worth more than other Human Beings?
Is US ARROGANT and Inhumane???

The World Largest Cargo Ship Information……i tell you Friends?

Question by shami742003: The World Largest Cargo Ship Information……i tell you Friends?
World’s Largest Cargo Ship Get a load of this ship! 15,000 containers and a 207′ beam! And look at the crew size (13) for a ship longer than US aircraft carriers, which have complements of 5,000 men and officers. Think it’s big enough? Notice that 207′ beam means it was NOT designed for the Panama or Suez canal . It is strictly transpacific. Check out the “cruise speed”. 31 mph means the goods arrive four days before the typical container ship traveling at 18 to 20 mph on a China-to-California run. So this behemoth is hugely competitive when carrying perishable goods. This ship was built in three, perhaps as many as five sections. The sections floated together and then welded. It is named Emma Maersk. The command bridge is higher than a ten story building and has eleven rigs that can operate simultaneously.

Additional info:
Country of origin – Denmark
Length – 1,302 ft
Width – 207 ft
Net cargo – 123,200 tons
Engine – 14 in-line cylinders diesel engine (110,000 BHP)
Cruise Speed – 31 mi/h
Cargo capacity – 15,000 TEU (1 TEU = 20 ft3 container)
Crew – 13 people
First Trip – Sept. 08, 2006
Construction cost – US $ 145,000,000+

The silicone paint applied to the ship’s bottom reduces water resistance and saves 317,000 gallons of diesel per year

Q&A: Why is it only ok when Republicans question a President? Why don’t liberals accuse them of the high insult of?

Question by ♥austingirl♥: Why is it only ok when Republicans question a President? Why don’t liberals accuse them of the high insult of?
being “un-American” like cons do? During Kosovo (where there were 0 troops deaths), Republicans lined up to insult the President during a time of “war”…are they “un-American” or just hypocrites?

“President Clinton is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation’s armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy.”
-Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)

“No goal, no objective, not until we have those things and a compelling case is made, then I say, back out of it, because innocent people are going to die for nothing. That’s why I’m against it.”
-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/5/99

“American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy.”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

“If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy.”
-Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of presidential candidate George W. Bush

Why did they demoralize our brave men and women in uniform?

“I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning…I didn’t think we had done enough in the diplomatic area.”
-Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

“You think Vietnam was bad? Vietnam is nothing next to Kosovo.”
-Tony Snow, Fox News 3/24/99

“Well, I just think it’s a bad idea. What’s going to happen is they’re going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years”
-Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

“I’m on the Senate Intelligence Committee, so you can trust me and believe me when I say we’re running out of cruise missles. I can’t tell you exactly how many we have left, for security reasons, but we’re almost out of cruise missles.”
-Senator Inhofe (R-OK)

“I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our overextended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

“I don’t know that Milosevic will ever raise a white flag”
-Senator Don Nickles (R-OK)

“Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?”
-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

Why didn’t they support our president in a time of war?

“Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is.”
-Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

“This is President Clinton’s war, and when he falls flat on his face, that’s his problem.”
-Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN)

“The two powers that have ICBMs that can reach the United States are Russia and China. Here we go in. We’re taking on not just Milosevic. We can’t just say, ‘that little guy, we can whip him.’ We have these two other powers that have missiles that can reach us, and we have zero defense thanks to this president.”
-Senator James Inhofe (R-OK)

“You can support the troops but not the president”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

“My job as majority leader is be supportive of our troops, try to have input as decisions are made and to look at those decisions after they’re made … not to march in lock step with everything the president decides to do.”
-Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

For us to call this a victory and to commend the President of the United States as the Commander in Chief showing great leadership in Operation Allied Force is a farce”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

Why did they blame America first?

Bombing a sovereign nation for ill-defined reasons with vague objectives undermines the American stature in the world. The international respect and trust for America has diminished every time we casually let the bombs fly.”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

“Once the bombing commenced, I think then Milosevic unleashed his forces, and then that’s when the slaughtering and the massive ethnic cleansing really started”
-Senator Don Nickles (R-OK)

“Clinton’s bombing campaign has caused all of these problems to explode”
-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

“America has no vital interest in whose flag flies over Kosovo’s capital, and no right to attack and kill Serb soldiers fighting on their own soil to preserve the territorial integrity of their own country”
-Pat Buchanan (R)

“These international war criminals were led by Gen. Wesley Clark … who clicked his shiny heels for the commander-in-grief, Bill Clinton.”
-Michael Savage

“This has been an unmitigated disaster … Ask the Chinese embassy. Ask all the people in Belgrade that we’ve killed. Ask the refugees that we’ve killed. Ask the people in nursing homes. Ask the people in hospitals.”
-Representative Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

“It is a remarkable spectacle to see the Clinton Administration and NATO taking over from the Soviet Union the role of sponsoring “wars of national liberation.”
-Representative Helen Chenoweth (R-ID)

“America has no vital interest in whose flag flies over Kosovo’s capital, and no right to attack and kill Serb soldiers fighting on their own soil to preserve the territorial integrity of their own country”
-Pat Buchanan (R)

“By the order to launch air strikes against Serbia, NATO and President Clinton have entered uncharted territory in mankind’s history. Not even Hitler’s grab of the Sudetenland in the 1930s, which eventually led to WW II, ranks as a comparable travesty. For, there are no American interests whatsoever that the NATO bombing will either help, or protect; only needless risks to which it exposes the American soldiers and assets, not to mention the victims on the ground in Serbia.”
-Bob Djurdjevic, founder of Truth in Media
Sound familiar?
Unwarranted bashing is not what the Dems are doing regarding this current mishandled war, if anything, the Repub.’s questioning of Kosovo was premature and unwarranted as it was handled MUCH better than our current conflict. Keep in mind, Clinton was handed the same war plan from the PNAC that Bush was only he was smart enough to say…no way!
